झारखंड में शहरी संपत्ति हस्तांतरण पर अधिभार अधिसूचित, नगर निकाय होंगे सशक्त

On 28 October 2026, the Jharkhand Cabinet approved and notified the Jharkhand Municipal Land/Building Transfer Surcharge Rules, 2026. Under the rules, an additional 10% surcharge will be levied on the combined stamp duty and registration fee for transfer (sale/gift) of land and buildings within urban areas—Municipal Corporations, Nagar Parishads, Nagar Panchayats and notified industrial townships. The surcharge will be collected by the registration officer just before completing registration; if a deed is registered outside the concerned ULB’s office, the surcharge will still be realised for the ULB where the property is situated. A digital workflow with a dedicated payment gateway and provision for refund if the transfer is cancelled has also been provided.
